Eight creative new games projects will receive grants as part of the Nordic Game Program’s final round of funding in 2008.
The expert panel assessed a total of 63 applications during this year’s second round of development funding for the Nordic games industry. DKK 3 million of available funding was divided up between the following eight new games projects:
“Aquatic Ambience”, developed by Chiralion Oy (Finland) for a variety of mobile-phone platforms. DKK 300,000.
“Boingo”, developed by Black Drop Studios AB (Sweden) for PC and Xbox 360. DKK 300,000.
“Brothers”, developed by The Story Lab AB (Sweden) for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. DKK 500,000.
“Furiae – Uppvaknandet”, by Resolution Interactive AB (Sweden) for Nintendo DS. DKK 300,000.
“IloMilo”, by Global Southend Productions AB (Sweden) for Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, PC and mobile phones. DKK 500,000.
“Invasion Europe”, by Sauma Technologies Oy (Finland) for PC. DKK 400,000.
“SuperDoodler” by Earthtree Media AS (Norway) for Nintendo DS. DKK 400,000.

Following the decision, the expert panel said: “The general quality of the applications has risen significantly over the years and is now more consistent than ever. We would, however, like to see future projects being even better developed in all three of the most important areas, i.e. business plan, game play and graphics.”
The successful projects were presented at a ceremony in Malmö, Sweden, on December 10.
The Nordic Game Program was launched in 2006 and is now in year three of six. It focuses on making Nordic electronic games more readily available to Nordic consumers, and the funding scheme is an important part of that process.
