061001 Nordic Game 2006
For 2006, Nordic Game had 700 registered delegates (compared to 200 attendees in 2004 and 300 delegates in 2005). More than 80 speakers from the Nordic countries as well as the rest of the world participated in seven parallel conference tracks.

The Game Development Program was greatly expanded compared to the previous years, and was created in collaboration with the Swedish developers organisation Spelplan-ASGD. The program covered areas such as graphics, business development, game design, production management and technology.
The Trade Program was new for 2006, and the program was developed in co-operation with the Nordic trade organisations MDTS (SE) and MUF (DK). The program covered areas such as the age- and content rating system PEGI, consumer behaviour, trends and other questions of special interest for the retailers.
The Research Program boasted speakers from all parts of the games research society, and the theme for this year was ”Understanding the Player”, while the Public Interest Program encompassed a range of areas, from global hotspots for game development, to serious games (games for educational or information purposes).

Selected quotes from Nordic Game 2006 delegates:
”This was ten times better than I expected. We will absolutely support this event again.”
- Magnús Bergsson, Chief Marketing Officer, CCP (IS)
”It was great! The sessions I went to were all solid and interesting (EA Montreal, Mizuguchi-san, Centroid3D, ...). If I was any techier, I would have definitely gone to see Pandemic's sessions. On the networking side, it was excellent to meet developers from the other Nordic countries. Those contacts will definitely be useful in the future. I think Finns should work more together with them and vice versa, we share so much culture, thinking and skills.”
- Lasse Seppänen, Production Lead, Remedy (FI)
”I agree with Lasse, Nordic Game was a great place to be. A lot of interesting talks, chance to catch up with old friends and meet quite a few new ones as well. […] Also, other Nordic people like Swedish and Norwegian are ALMOST as good as Finns to have a good time plus Malmö seems to be a really cool city! A very good and cost-effective "mini-GDC" for all of us to attend!”
- Ilari Kuittinen, CEO, Housemarque (FI)
”This may very well have been the best games conference we’ve ever been to.”
- Tetsuya Mizoguchi, CEO, Q Entertainment (JP), och Jeff Buchanan, Nival Interactive (US)
”My general view of Nordic Game 2006 was of a mid-scale, expertly-run event. On a personal level, I felt very well looked after, and the facilities offered to me were excellent. As for the show itself, there was enough for me to cover to make it worth my while visiting. From a business perspective, visiting Sweden and Nordic Game gave me an invaluable insight into the region”
- Patrick Garratt, Chief Editor, www.gamesindustry.biz (UK)
